How does the function track e-mail opens work?
I have a use-case where we would like to record the open times of e-mails sent out during mass mailings. For this, we use the action Send an email and configure it to track the opening times of the e-mails sent.
However, this doesn't work completely as expected. We did some internal testing and noticed that the tracking function only works when the e-mail is opened and the photos in the e-mail (only our company logo) are downloaded. By download I mean in Outlook to click the option to download photos in e-mails. Apparently, this is what triggers the "open".
Has anyone had a similar experience or does anyone know how this e-mail opening tracking works in more detail?
Thanks!

We use a tracking pixel to indicate if an email was opened or not, so images have to be downloaded to indicate an open in Catalytic. This is the industry standard method to track email opens across different organizations/email servers. If you are emailing only people inside your organization Outlook can leverage proprietary features to implement email open tracking in a different way. Hope this helps!
