Overriding Multiple Locale Support For Date Fields
Today a date field's format changes based on the users locale. For example a US user filling out a date field uses the date picker to choose a date in DD/MM/YYYY
format. On the field's configuration the formatting option is set to DD/MM/YYYY
format. The US user will see their field remain in DD/MM/YYYY
format but a user in Singapore will see the date format change to MM/DD/YYYY
format. Example text and instructions are static and can't change conditionally with the locale so the user can find this confusing and think they made an error.
In an effort to make a more consistent user experience, an option to override the local formatting logic on date fields would be helpful. That way the field's instructions would be accurate regardless of the user's locale.
