Does archiving a Workflow end active workflows?

Does archiving a workflow template impact any active instances that are running? Or will those continue to run without issue?

    I just ran a test where I started an instance, then archived the Workflow, and my active instance still completed without issue. Just an FYI, if a Workflow is archived with an active trigger, the trigger can still execute. To stop new instances from starting, remove any triggers before archiving.
