Validation for User Type Fields

Problem:
I have a datatype with a user type column. It's critical that only users on the team can be entered in the column. The workflow that references the user column relies on it having only valid team members
Idea:
Enforce validation on entry for user type fields. If a username or email is entered that does not exist on the team, reject the entry.
